Glyfada beach

Tall cedar trees among the sand dunes
Glyfada beach, Naxos

The beautiful sandy beach of Glyfada is found between the beaches of Kastraki and Alyko approximately 15 kilometres from Naxos Town. The beach is surrounded by big sand dunes on which tall cedar trees have grown over the years. Oskelos hill is right behind, giving amazing views of the entire bay. At Glyfada beach you will find few accommodation units (hotels, studios and rooms to rent), so book early should you wish to stay there. Next to the beach and in the greater area one can find some excellent taverns serving mostly local food.

A vehicle is needed to get there so rental is a good option unless you have your own vehicle. Access to the beach is gained by asphalt road all the way and the suggested route is from Naxos Town down the south coastline road.

If it is peace and quiet you seek then this is the ideal beach for those who seek just those qualities and since this is not an organised beach there are no umbrellas or sun-beds available for rent so bring your own if you don’t want to rough it with a plain beach towel.

The nearest beaches are those of Pyrgaki beach, Kastraki Beach and Alyko beach.
